What You’ll Do:
The selected RedHat OpenShift Platform Engineer will need experience installing, operating, expanding, and enhancing a ROHS platform for our high performing development teams. We’re looking for this engineer to have the ability to deliver a platform capable of supporting refactored, cloud-ready, and container-based applications.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Install, Optimize, and Maintain OpenShift platform infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and optimal performance on an AWS platform
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Ansible playbooks to implement platform enhancements and ensure robust disaster recovery capabilities
- Partner with the Observability team to refine monitoring solutions, implement predictive alerting, and continuously improve platform visibility
- Provide expert platform-level troubleshooting assistance to the team for complex application issues
- Lead the planning and execution of bi-annual OpenShift platform updates with minimal service disruption across all environments
- Serve as platform ambassador in change management processes, aligning OpenShift modifications with application team requirements
- Engineer repeatable, automated workflows using Ansible Automation Platform to minimize manual intervention
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation that enables efficient platform operations
- Effectively manage vendor support relationships, drive issue resolution, and influence platform roadmaps
- Lead implementation projects for new platform-level applications and utilities that enhance OpenShift capabilities
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and updates of OpenShift operators to extend platform functionality
- Research and evaluate emerging OpenShift features and capabilities to drive continuous platform improvement
- Be available on occasional after hours for work large scale events such as major upgrades or deployments
- Assist the Maximo team with the deployment of IBM Maximo Application Suite 9 to ROHS on AWS.
- Assist the Maximo team with resolving connectivity issues between the ROHS platform on AWS and OKTA on the Government network for identity management.
- Maintain issue tracking updates on the team JIRA account.
What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years’ experience with containerization products such as Docker, Kubernetes, and RedHat OpenShift
- Experience with Nutanix hardware and AHV hypervisor a plus.
- Strong focus on automation including tools including Jenkins, Ansible, and Github.
- Experience with Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure a plus
- Experience working in a DevOps culture
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate across internal and external teams to ensure excellent customer experience
- Demonstrated proactive and directional thinking
- Demonstrated ability to learn at the pace of technology change, maintenance of a broad skill set in common enterprise IT technologies across development, automation, and operations
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent job experience
