What You’ll Do:
The Data Governance & Metadata Scientist will design, implement, and maintain enterprise‑level data governance frameworks to ensure metadata consistency, lineage visibility, and interoperability across Data Lake environments, ESRI Kubernetes platforms, and external data sources. This role requires deep expertise in metadata management, geospatial data standards, and DoD‑compliant governance practices. The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency, analytical rigor, and hands‑on experience supporting metadata workflows in cloud‑based and geospatial ecosystems
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Develop, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data across cloud‑based and hybrid environments.
- Ensure metadata consistency, schema alignment, and interoperability across Data Lake, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories.
- Track and manage data lineage using tools such as Unity Catalog, OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or similar metadata platforms.
- Maintain synchronization of metadata across catalogs, repositories, and geospatial systems.
- Apply governance best practices to support data quality, discoverability, and compliance.
- Enforce adherence to DoD metadata policies, NSG tradecraft standards, and geospatial data governance requirements.
- Support geospatial data cataloging, metadata enrichment, and integration workflows.
- Collaborate with data engineers, geospatial analysts, and system architects to ensure metadata alignment across the enterprise.
- Contribute to the development of metadata automation processes and governance documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, GIS, or a related field; or a minimum of five (5) years of equivalent experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Implementing metadata governance frameworks in cloud‑based environments
- Tracking data lineage and synchronizing metadata across catalogs and repositories
- Using OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, Unity Catalog, or similar tools
- Applying geospatial data standards and cataloging practices
- Ensuring compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards
- Proficiency in metadata management, schema alignment, and governance best practices.
- Strong understanding of geospatial data structures, ESRI ecosystems, and Kubernetes‑based geospatial deployments.
