A local D.C – Northern VA non-profit organization whose focus is to foster entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, education, funding, and incubation. We are looking for a new Executive Director to support our mission.

Status: Full Time – Full-time (Monthly retainer or W2)

Location:  Herndon, VA

What We Do:
 We are a non-profit connecting the entrepreneurship ecosystem from early-stage entrepreneurs, serial entrepreneurs, professionals at leading corporations, venture capital, angel investors, and thought leaders, among others. The organization emphasizes the spirit of giving in all aspects of its work. This is a 60 chapter strong community with around 11,000 members, including over 2,500 charter members across 17 countries and we represent the DC chapter.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide strategic leadership and set the cultural tone of the chapter 
  • Oversee the organization's management, including programs, staff, and expansion 
  • Develop and implement fundraising/sponsorship strategies, including grant writing, sponsor cultivation, and fundraising events 
  • Oversee the organization's finances, including financial reporting, budget reviews, and cost accounting 
  • Maintain relationships with the board of directors, prepare for and participate in board meetings, and provide accurate and timely information to the board 
  • Represent the chapter in the community, advocate for its mission, and build relationships with community leaders 
  • Hire staff, provide career coaching, and ensure the staff is diverse and highly qualified 
  • Develop long-term strategic plans and event calendars to ensure growth and sustainability 
  • Develop and maintain social media marketing campaigns for events and activities
  • Ensure the organization is compliant with legal and regulatory requirements 
  • Plans, organizes, executes, and coordinates the Chapter's activities in alignment with the established policies, plans, and objectives, as delegated by the Board of Directors. Apprises the Board of any problems or anticipated challenges to carry out the Chapter’s mission effectively.
  • Oversee all official calendar events, including the Chapter’s annual and monthly events, and produce and distribute monthly and annual e-newsletters.
  • Works closely with the Board to ensure effective governance, making monthly presentations on the Chapter's operations and participating in all board meetings unless otherwise directed.
  • Articulates the Chapter’s vision, mission, and unique value proposition to current and prospective members, assisting in the recruitment and orientation of new members and sponsors while maintaining absolute confidentiality of member and sponsor information.

What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
  • 7–10+ years of senior leadership experience in a non-profit, social services, or similar organization.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning, program development, and fundraising.
  • Experience managing budgets, operations, and staff in a non-profit setting.
  • Familiarity with the organization's mission and field of service.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed for events, meetings, or donor engagement.
  • Strong understanding of technology tools and platforms for communication and fundraising (e.g., CRM software, social media, grant management systems).
