What You’ll Do:
As the Mainframe Modernization Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in the transformation of legacy mainframe systems into modern, agile platforms using IBM Blu Age. This position requires deep expertise in mainframe systems and modernization techniques, as well as hands-on experience with the IBM Blu Age suite of tools.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Legacy System Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing mainframe applications, identifying key areas for modernization and improvement.
Modernization Planning:
Develop and implement detailed modernization strategies, leveraging IBM Blu Age to refactor and migrate legacy applications to modern platforms.
Migration Execution:
Lead the execution of migration projects, ensuring seamless transitions from legacy systems to modern architectures with minimal disruption to ongoing business operations.
Code Transformation:
Utilize IBM Blu Age tools to transform COBOL and other legacy codebases into modern languages and architectures, ensuring compatibility with contemporary systems.
Integration and Testing:
Oversee the integration of modernized applications into the existing IT environment, and conduct thorough testing to ensure functionality, performance, and security.
Collaboration:
Work closely with stakeholders, including business analysts, developers, and project managers, to align modernization efforts with business objectives.
Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the modernization process, including technical specifications, process guidelines, and post-migration support plans.
Support and Optimization:
Provide post-migration support and optimization, addressing any issues and ensuring that modernized systems operate efficiently.
What You’ll Need:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- Extensive experience in mainframe modernization projects, with a focus on using IBM Blu Age tools.
- Strong background in legacy mainframe technologies (e.g., COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2).
- Proven track record of successful mainframe-to-modern platform migrations.
Skills:
- Proficiency in IBM Blu Age, including its various tools and components.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and lead cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
Certifications:
- IBM Blu Age certification is highly desirable.
